Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio - $24.99
Every great story has a beginning, and Pinot Grigio is no exception. Hard to believe that this ubiquitous and delectable varietal was once used almost exclusively for the creation of French and American Champagnes. That was the case until 1961, when the folks at Santa Margherita created a new white wine from this red grape, and Pinot Grigio as we recognize it today was born. The delicious, fresh wine that resulted has become incredibly popular, but no one makes it quite like Santa Margherita.
The Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is intense, dry and classic. Perfect to pair with your next dish of light pasta, chicken or fish, or to enjoy it by itself. Definite crowd pleaser, and a great gift idea, too!
Bolla 2009 Valpolicella Ripasso - $14.99
Just a step below Amarone, this hand harvested Valpolicella(val-pohl-ee-chel-ah) displays fresh young character. The Corvina grapes are cold mascerated before fermentation begins to preserve that fresh fruitiness. The must from a previuos Amarone is added to deepen personality.
The bouquet expresses a nose of preserved cherries, pencil shavings, and a tinge of vanilla. In the mouth, tart cherries press forward with fresh acidity and light tannins. This is an awesome food wine! Open a bottle and enjoy with your favorite roasted meat.
